The Light of Pelor
From the Private Annals of the Church of Pelor.

The 18th day of Alturiak in the Year of the Sudden Journey.
It has been a tenday since Gilmorril and Rindall set out to the east and still there is no word of them. Although the weather has turned for the better, and fresh, clean breezes bring Spring in the air, we are worried for them, regardless of Gilmorril’s expertise in the wilderness.
There have been no further sightings of goblins, kobolds, or other unnatural beasts and life in the town has returned to normal. The mine to the north is starting to produce fine stone and ores, we are hewing timber from the woods, catching fish from the lake, trapping game in the woods, making cheeses and milk and preserving meat from our livestock, gathering wool and leather, and preparing the fields once more for this year’s crop of grain. We have everything we need to survive and yet I feel that without an influx of new blood soon, we may begin to stagnate.
Even without recent sightings, the threat of a coordinated assault on our town is in everyone’s mind, and it was only through great persuasion that Gilmorril and Rindall were allowed out into the wilderness, and not kept back behind our palisades in readiness for defence. I yearn for the Light of Pelor to be cast out into the wilds – a shining beacon that can lead our way to civilisation here on the untamed continent.
Although His Radiant Servant seems outwardly to hold the potential of adventurers arriving on the next journey of The Guiding Fire quite distasteful, I am sure that he would welcome them with open arms if they are able to strike out and conquer the lands around us in Pelor’s name.
With his blessing I am still researching the tomes that have been found: the first, found at the stone circle is still quite unintelligible to me; but the others from the Tower of the Mists, as it is now called, may yet reveal their secrets as they appear to be closer to our own tongue. I am sure with Pelor’s guidance it will not be long before their tales are unlocked.
