Deepingwald Political System
The city of Deepingwald is governed by a council of representatives from different organisations and walks of life within the city known as the Septet Senate.
The Septet Senate is divided into seven ‘houses’, each with three members, that are aligned around a particular cause or ideal. One vote on the senate is allowed per house, to be decided amongst those three members, with a casting vote from the leader of that house.
Matters of policy and law are determined by votes from the senate, with any casting vote left to the chairman. The chairmanship is set on a rotation basis, with the leader of the nominated house for that year assuming the chair.
The Septet Senate is not democratically chosen, the members are not voted in. Each of the involved organisations appoint their leader to be a member – some of these organisations have democratic memberships, others have not.
The leaders of each house also serve on the council for the entire Islands, known as the City Elders, joined by a representative from each of the other four major settlements.

House of Coin
The House of Coin represents the trade, commerce, and monetary concerns of Deepingwald. The house is led by the Marquess of Skalgard, Agras DeVeere of the Deepingwald Mercers’ Guild, and includes NNNNN from the Clergy of Avandra, and NNNNN of the Silver Mint.
House of Stone
The House of Stone represents the manufacturing and construction concerns of Deepingwald, including how the city’s new buildings and growth are managed. The house is led by NNNNN from the Mastersmith’s Guild, and includes NNNNN from the Clergy of Moradin, and NNNNN from the Company of Watermen and Lightermen.
House of Scrolls
The House of Scrolls represents the scholarly, history, and wizardry aspects of Deepingwald, including gathering and preserving of knowledge and the training and discipline in those able in the arts of magic. The house is led by NNNNN from the Robed Magisters, and includes NNNNN from the Clergy of Ioun, and NNNNN from the Scriveners’ Guild.
House of Tenets
The House of Tenets represents the spiritual aspects and well-being of the Deepingwald citizens. The house is led by NNNNN of the Clergy of Pelor, and includes NNNNN, Warden of the City of the Dead, and NNNNN of the Clergy of Sehanine.
House of Charter
The House of Charter represents the justice and lawkeeping concerns of Deepingwald. The house is led by the Marquess of Northwind, Platinum Talon Josseth Crownblade of the Clergy of Bahamut, and includes NNNNN of the City Watch, and NNNNN of the Clergy of Erathis.
House of Aegis
The House of Aegis represents the protection and warfare concerns of Deepingwald. The house is led by NNNNN of the City Guard, and includes NNNNN of the Clergy of Kord, and NNNNN of the Dwarven Border March, the only non-Deepingwald resident on the senate.
House of Arts
The House of Arts represents the artistic and creation aspects of Deepingwald. The house is led by the Marquess of Tarsembor, Callen Trystan, the noble patron of Deepingwald’s galleries and museums, and includes NNNNN of the Clergy of Corellon, and NNNNN of the ?????.
